COMMUNITY COLLEGE
CUSTOMIZED TRAINING PROGRAMS
Community Colleges in New Mexico work with local business partners to design
training programs that are customized to meet their needs. Community college
partners can deliver training at the campus or at the worksite, and their
instructors can work with experts inside the business to enhance employers
in-house training programs. Community colleges have the missions, resources,
and locations to provide “one-stop” services for local companies. According to
Governor Richardson: “Community colleges have the ability to provide
direct-response, customized training for local business that might be
expanding, or for new businesses that might be moving [to New Mexico]. Other
states have made community colleges the cornerstone of their economic growth.
We can do the same.“
